The University Medical Center of El Paso Burn Center was recently highlighted in KTSM 9 News segment recognizing a major milestone for healthcare in the Borderland.
As the region’s first dedicated Burn Center, UMC is expanding access to specialized care for patients who suffer severe burn injuries, including thermal, electrical and chemical burns.
Before the Burn Center opened in December 2025, patients with serious burn injuries often had to travel approximately 300 miles to receive specialized treatment in either Lubbock, Texas, or Albuquerque, New Mexico. Today, patients can receive advanced burn care much closer to home, allowing families to remain together while reducing treatment delays.
The UMC Burn Center provides comprehensive care through a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, nurses, therapists, and other specialists dedicated to treating complex burn injuries and supporting patients throughout their recovery.
Recent news coverage highlights how this new resource is strengthening emergency and specialty care throughout the region and improving access for communities across West Texas and Southern New Mexico.
