UMC’s Mako Robot Helps Surgeons With Hip And Knee Replacements For Seniors

UMC Staff

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is furthering its commitment to the community with the introduction of a state-of-the-art robotic system for hip and knee replacements, set to launch in the summer of 2024.

UMC Surgical Hospital surgeons can now offer less invasive options to help patients recover more quickly and get back to their normal activities with the addition of the Stryker Mako Robotic-Arm.

The system enhances surgical precision by assisting surgeons in performing more accurate joint replacements, tailoring implants to the patient’s unique anatomy to ensure a more natural and functional outcome.

Surgeons can obtain real-time feedback and cues from the Mako Robotic-Arm during surgery, which allows surgeons to make adjustments to the surgical plan as needed.

With an aging population in need of this care, UMC’s improved technological tools are more important than ever.
