At University Medical Center of El Paso, we are honored to count Kristian Campa, and Paris Chacon, 20, among a new wave of healthcare professionals who are starting their nursing careers earlier than most, thanks to innovative nurse magnet programs.
Both Campa, 19, and Chacon, 20, began college-level nursing courses while still in high school. Their paths continued with internships at UMC El Paso during nursing school, which smoothly transitioned into full-time roles immediately after graduation.
For Kristian Campa, nursing is a deeply personal calling. His inspiration came from witnessing the care and compassion nurses showed his grandmother during her cancer treatment.
“Seeing nurses comfort my grandmother made me want to be that person for someone else,” Campa shared.
Paris Chacon found her inspiration closer to home. Motivated by her father, who started his career as a nurse, she says UMC has provided her with valuable opportunities to learn and grow.
“Anyone can do it if you put your mind to it. Be tenacious and work hard,” Chacon said.
UMC El Paso is proud to support these rising stars, who are dedicated to delivering compassionate care every day.
