February is Heart Month, a perfect time to focus on heart health and the specialized care available to you right here at University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC).
UMC’s Heart Rhythm Clinic offers advanced heart rhythm management services, supported by a team of board-certified electrophysiologists. These experts specialize in diagnosing and treating irregular heartbeats, helping patients maintain healthy and well-functioning hearts.
Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) involves the artificial control and monitoring of the heartbeat using small, battery-powered devices implanted in the body and connected to the heart. The two most common CRM devices are pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). Pacemakers deliver continuous, low-energy electrical impulses to help maintain a regular heartbeat, while ICDs detect irregular rhythms or pauses and deliver shocks to reset the heart to a normal rhythm.
