Strengthening Care Through Teamwork and High Reliability

UMC Staff

At University Medical Center of El Paso, we are taking an important step forward in our mission to deliver safe, high-quality care, to every patient, every time. Our journey to becoming a High Reliability Organization (HRO) represents more than a new initiative, it’s a cultural transformation that will touch every corner of our hospital.

Becoming an HRO means building a system where safety, consistency, and excellence are at the center of everything we do. From nurses and physicians to environmental services, support staff, and leadership, everyone plays a vital role in making care safer and more reliable for our patients and their families.

“Together, we will strengthen our processes, enhance communication, and make safety the foundation of everything we do,” said Amy Daher, UMC’s Chief Nursing Officer and Interim Chief Quality Officer. “This is more than a program, this is UMC’s standard from here on out. We are transforming our culture for the benefit of our patients and staff.”

This journey will take time, teamwork, and dedication, but it will make UMC stronger than ever. Over the coming months, you’ll see new tools, resources, and training opportunities designed to support all associates and medical staff as we move forward together.
