On December 4, University Medical Center of El Paso held its annual Nursing Shared Governance Conference. The event highlighted the creativity, dedication, and forward-thinking mindset that define UMC’s nursing community.
Attendees heard from dynamic speakers who explored the power of intentional thinking and innovation in nursing practice. Sessions encouraged nurses to shift perspectives, from focusing on “what’s wrong” to exploring “what’s possible”, and to embrace the strength of their own voices.
A panel of newer nurses shared their experiences, offering fresh perspectives on how emerging voices are shaping the future of nursing at UMC El Paso. Their insights underscored the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and the courage to innovate.
This year’s conference also celebrates a milestone: UMC’s Nurse Residency program recently earned accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) through the Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP), highlighting the hospital’s commitment to excellence in nursing education and professional growth.
UMC is deeply grateful for the dedication, expertise, and passion of its nursing team. Each day, their efforts strengthen the organization and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients.
