On November 21, University Medical Center of El Paso had the pleasure of hosting the El Paso Chamber’s Leadership Class 46. President and CEO Jacob Cintron welcomed the group and shared an inside look at the progress UMC is driving across our healthcare system.
During their visit, participants learned about several major initiatives shaping the future of care at UMC, including:
- The El Paso Burn Center plans continue to move forward, bringing our region closer to having dedicated, life-saving burn treatment.
- The region’s first ECMO life-support program, established at UMC to offer critically ill patients advanced cardiac and respiratory support without leaving El Paso.
- Upgrades to Da Vinci 5 surgical robots, making UMC the first teaching hospital in Texas to implement the newest generation of minimally invasive surgical technology.
Guests also toured key areas of the hospital, including the Emergency and Trauma Department, Labor & Delivery Unit, and the helipad.

As the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, UMC remains dedicated to raising the standard of care and ensuring that high-quality, compassionate services are within reach for everyone we serve.
