A few days ago, we discussed UMC’s highlights in the healthcare industry (UMC’s 23 Milestones in Commitment to Healthcare), noting that UMC is the only Level 1 Trauma Center within a 280-mile radius of El Paso, providing the highest level of emergency care for severe injuries since 2001. Additionally, UMC is a Level 1 Stroke Center: Since 2018, it has been certified to handle the most complex stroke cases, with no other hospital in West Texas, New Mexico, or Southern Arizona holding this certification. Lastly, UMC also operates a Mobile Stroke Unit: A specialized ambulance equipped with a 16-slice CT scanner, delivering immediate stroke care at the scene to save critical time for patients.
Now, we are celebrating an important milestone—110 years of UMC in El Paso. “We’re excited to celebrate 110 years of UMC’s history in the borderland. Since 1915, UMC has been serving the communities of El Paso and Las Cruces, as well as people in Ciudad Juarez,” said Estefanía S. Morgan, Administrative Director of Public Affairs at UMC-El Paso. “We are truly excited to share this significant anniversary with the community, and we’re celebrating it with a wonderful event.”
In honor of the occasion, UMC has highlighted its decades-long commitment to providing world-class healthcare services to the borderland. This milestone further underscores UMC’s dedication to advancing healthcare standards and serving the diverse needs of its community.
The hospital has been an essential pillar in the region, offering cutting-edge medical care, and its continued growth reflects the institution’s deep connection to the El Paso community. As UMC looks to the future, it remains focused on meeting the evolving healthcare needs of residents and expanding its capacity to offer specialized services for both local and regional patients.
